Hitting is the single most difficult thing to do in all of sports. To become a great hitter it is said you need to take 100 perfect swings a day every day. But first you have to find your perfect mechanics which lead to your perfect swing. What I teach and the methods I use are all MLB level.
Pitching is an art. The greatest pitchers of all time were artists. The knew how to pitch. It is not just about velocity and spin. It’s knowing what to throw, where, how and when. It is the art of deception. Doing whatever it takes to keep the hitter off balance and throw off his timing. The Key is creating the most effective mechanics possible to allow maximum velocity, optimum accuracy and late ball movement.
It is always mental before physical. If your mind is not right, for whatever reason the chances of your body executing at the highest level drastically decreases. The two most common root causes are 1) lack of confidence 2) dealing with failure. Both of these can literally end a player’s career.

Coach Pete’s Approach
With over 30 years of experience, I offer personalized baseball lessons for players of all ages, from beginners to elite levels, specializing in pitching and hitting. The focus is on rotational mechanics—what I call Maximum Rotational Body Speed—starting with explosive hip rotation. In pitching, faster body movement leads to a longer stride and greater velocity. In hitting, faster body rotation increases hand speed, which drives higher exit velocity and longer hits. I also teach softball hitting, and some of my best hitters have been female softball players. Whether it’s basic fundamentals or advanced techniques, I help players make the small adjustments that make a big difference.
Pitching, at its core, is about maximizing body speed while maintaining proper mechanics and accuracy. It starts with the stance and builds through every movement, ultimately creating the foundation for velocity and late ball movement.
Hitting is one of the toughest skills in sports. Even athletes like Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders have said it’s the hardest thing they’ve ever done. To simplify the challenge, we will focus on full rotation, bat extension, and staying in an “attack” position. Like pitching, hitting mechanics are built from the ground up, starting with the stance, and are designed to maximize body rotation for powerful, all-field hitting.
This is the goal for every player.
I provide the same high-quality instruction, whether in group or individual lessons, including drills, feedback, and progress tracking. For pitching, I will measure things like velocity, body speed, stride length, and positioning. For hitting, I will track body speed, timing, exit velocity, and more.
Video is a key tool, giving immediate feedback after filming, reviewing footage with players to explain what’s working and what needs adjustment. Players can also request videos for reference while practicing at home.
Players’ homework consists of drills that reinforce proper mechanics. Consistent, focused practice is critical—1,000 perfect repetitions create a habit, 10,000 make it automatic, and 10,000 hours give you a chance to reach the highest level.
I blend biomechanics with modern coaching methods to help players reach their full potential and progress to the next level, taking pride in the genuine care and passion for each player's development.
In addition, I teach mental performance strategies for handling pressure, overcoming failure, and developing baseball intelligence—knowing not just what to do, but what every player on the field should be doing.
